Haldex, based in Stockholm, is a major global supplier of hydraulics, traction and brake systems to the automotive industry. Customers include Volvo, Volkswagen, Mercedes Benz and Caterpillar. Group Director of Supply Management Theo Lindqvist manages teams based in Europe, North America and Asia.
Theo recently relocated from Sweden to support the growth of the Haldex operation in China. He saw an opportunity to understand the skills in his global team and called on ADR to assist.
As a procurement consultancy with 21 years of experience in procurement skills development with some of the world’s biggest corporations, ADR was ideally placed to meet the challenge.
Using Development Needs Analysis, its unique web-based purchasing skills assessment tool, ADR provided a detailed profile of procurement capability and effectiveness for each country, business unit and individual in the Haldex global supply management team.
It shows the strengths and skills gaps in all procurement competencies including supplier relationship management, cost control and negotiation. Haldex can continue using the DNA package for the next three years.
Haldex now has the information he needs to make fully informed decisions on training and development with his team. Rather than running “one size fits all” training, he can cost-effectively target learning programmes based on business-driven priorities.
Theo Lindqvist says that DNA “Allows us to tailor a group-wide supply staff development program; enables staff development to be tracked over time and will be used to drive individual development plans.”
