Industry body CIPS draws on ADR's procurement expertise

ADR Learning is one of only a small handful of specialist procurement organisations that provides expertise and training through the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS).

CIPS exists to promote and develop high standards of professional skill, ability and integrity among all those engaged in purchasing and supply chain management. CIPS also acts as the central reference for industry best practice and provides both training and professional qualifications.

CIPS faces the challenge of delivering training to organisations around the world, customising delivery to specific companies and markets. The training needs to come from hands-on experts who are themselves active and experienced procurement professionals.

ADR Learning works with CIPS through its network of procurement professionals, allowing the organisation to extend its reach and the range of specialist training it can provide.

The training is often customised to meet the precise needs of the clients, using real-life business situations based on their actual suppliers, processes, terminologies, and internal departments. This allows us to create examples and roleplaying scenarios which are directly relevant to the real working lives of those taking part.

ADR Learning provides a wide range of training for a range of CIPS clients – everything from global telecoms equipment manufacturers to oil companies, public sector bodies, and drinks manufacturers. The kinds of training delivered include:

- Supplier relationship management – such as best practice in managing supplier performance

- Negotiation – enhancing core purchasing skills

- Purchasing – training on the legal and contracting aspects of procurement

- Public sector purchasing – helping to ensure staff understand the complexities of EU procurement directives, and work within the ever-changing rules of the public sector purchasing model

- Cost management – a major concern for many companies, especially in volatile markets

- Category management and similar specific courses as requested by clients.

CIPS and ADR offer world-class training that is always up-to-date with best practice and thinking and directly relevant to what is taking place in markets today.

All the professionals from ADR involved in CIPS training are themselves CIPS qualified professionals with at least ten years experience of hands-on, active procurement roles in industry. They also all still work in active procurement roles, taking time out from their buying roles to provide training when required.

ADR Learning is also able to deliver training around the world, and we provide trainers with a wide range of language skills as well as exceptional procurement expertise. In this way we are able to support the global presence of ADR and CIPS, helping them in their mission to extend the professionalism of purchasing worldwide.

Julie Jack, Head of Learning & Development at CIPS, says:

“It is essential to our organisation that we offer training of the highest quality and provide the best value for money for our clients.  ADR International is a key supplier to CIPS and works hard in helping us to achieve our goals.  ADR regularly receive excellent feedback from our clients, their standards of professionalism and integrity are second to none and they are always a pleasure to work with”.
