Maple Leaf Foods is a $6 billion food company made up of 13 independent operating companies. ADR was tasked with developing the future state of the organisation. ADR’s skills assessment tool (DNA) was selected as the tool to poll key stakeholders to identify their purchasing needs and what is the current state of their purchasing organisations. Once the results of DNA were analysed, ADR delivered a new corporate strategy focused on hybrid centralized/decentralised organisation and the needed skill-sets to become the most advanced food company in the world in purchasing.
The aims of this project were:
- Identify the purchasing needs of key stakeholders including company presidents and directors of purchasing.
- Assess what are the systems, processes, people, and organisation needed to take the organisation to the next level.
- Deliver a comprehensive corporate strategy to further leverage purchasing knowledge by the entire organization
Customised DNA tool developed to survey key stakeholders and to assess current purchasing capability. Executives and directors of purchasing were polled using DNA and then interviewed to provide more detail. Follow-up interviews were conducted to provide more detail of responses of executives and directors.
Center-led purchasing organisation created to drive purchasing across Maple Leaf to a new level.
