TJ Hughes gets fit for the future

Liverpool-based UK department store giant TJ Hughes has bucked current trends with strong trading figures and anticipated expansion – and saved more than £500,000 in the process.

Having already focused heavily on effective management of merchandise spend, the management team called in ADR International to streamline procurement for a range of indirect goods and services for its 52 stores nationwide.

We launched a strategic sourcing exercise including opportunity analysis and wave planning through to tendering of specific categories.

We then worked with key TJ Hughes stakeholders to put our recommendations into action and have delivered savings totalling more than £500,000 a year in the first phase alone.

Furthermore, contracts and SLAs are now in place to drive supplier performance along with regular audits of savings.

Suri Zafari, Internal Audit and Procurement Manager at TJ Hughes, said: “ADR Sourcing did a great job for us. They communicated really effectively throughout the project and delivered excellent results.

“ADR Sourcing brought us an impressive background of knowledge in the retail sector that enabled them to understand our needs and to work with us to deliver the service and savings we were looking for.

“We were very pleased with the outcomes we were able to achieve for our business working with ADR Sourcing.”
