Steve Lai is appointed as the Managing Director of ADR Taiwan based in Taipei. He has been in the professions of purchasing/supply management, marketing/sales and general management for more than 35 years. Besides his industrial experiences, Steve has been involving in the training and consulting disciplines since the middle of 1990. Academically, he is currently teaching at the National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology in Kaohsiung, Taiwan as the Professor of Practice with the department of Logistics Management.
Professionally, Steve is honored as the Honorary Chairman by SMIT (Supply Management Institute, Taiwan) in 2007 to recognize his unusual contributions to this association for the service of chairmanship from 2001 to 2006. He is also serving as the Executive Director for CPSS (Center for Purchasing and Supply Studies) – a research unit and was jointly established between SMIT and nation’s leading business schools, since January 2007. In July 2010, he proposed and organized a cross-industry alliance to promote the Value Network platform with the global semiconductor packaging and testing industry manufacturers and then invited as the Chairman of SMA (Supply Management Alliance). The SMIT board appointed him as the Senior Delegate to IFPSM (International Federation of Purchasing and Supply Management) meetings when SMIT was admitted as the member of this federation in August 2012.
Steve initiated and developed the Taiwan’s Purchasing and Supply Management certification program as the C.P.P. – Certified Purchasing Professional, in late 2001 while he was the Chairman of SMIT. He also proposed and involved the development of “Taiwan PMI” and it has been officially releasing monthly since December 2012. Steve’s previous industrial experience was mainly with multinational companies, TRW (U.S.A) and Mercedes-Benz (Germany) in the Asia/Pacific region. He is also the listed instructor for ISM CPSM Exam Review Program. Steve graduated from Tulane University – in New Orleans, Louisiana, U.S.A. and holds the degree of Master of Business Administration. He is an active member of Rotary International since 1991, and a board member of other professional associations and institutes in Taiwan and Asia.
